Virginal Cosmic Climate

The penultimate week of August begins with the spectacle of the Sun hidden behind the lunar shadow, in the second New moon in Leo. Two atypical phenomena occur in the same act: the duplication of a New Moon in the same zodiacal sign (July 23 and August 21), and the total concealment of the Sun, and its repercussions, over the American territory.

The pattern of moon successions changes with the double lunation in Leo. From now on, the New Moon ceases to occur in the first degrees of each sign, to manifest itself in the last degrees. The Moon ceases to mark the opening of the zodiacal sign, to mark the end of the passage of the Sun by each sidereal sector.

The Total Sun Eclipse of Monday the 21st announces the commencement of the last half of the Chinese year of the Rooster, which will conclude, on February 15, with a second Eclipse; this time, of a partial nature. We enter now a dynamic qualitatively different from the one that prevailed during the first semester.

The period between the two solar eclipses will be impregnated with an invisible internal force that will create the conditions for cleansing and purification events, and bring renovation and revitalization processes with it.

Once the eclipse is over, the Sun will enter Virgo before our planet has taken a complete spin on its own axis. Virgo symbolizes purity, lack of contaminating contact, introversion, analytical ability and attention to detail, looking for accuracy and efficiency.

Mercury rules the sign of the Virgin. It represents the development of the mind, the capacity for objective observation, comparison and reflection, the elaboration of the discourse and the facility for the exchange of ideas, criteria and opinions. It is the time for submitting to evaluation and criticism, the time to correct mistakes, and of perfectionist zeal.

In this opportunity, Virgo‘s regent is in its retrograde-motion-phase, in the final days of its 129-day cycle (from April 20 to August 26), stimulating revision and analysis. Under these circumstances, encounter and understanding are difficult, but introspection and preparation for new challenges are encouraged.

The Retrograde Mercury of these days is part of a retrograde motion involving five other planets (Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Chiron and Saturn), which will run until Friday 25, when Saturn abandons that condition and restart its movement forward.

On Saturday the 26th, Venus will move to Leo, and the Sun will join Mercury, when it returns, in the first degrees of Virgo; thus beginning a new Mercurian cycle (until December 12), which represents the opening of a new path to rehearsing agreements and understandings, which could not be achieved in previous times, in the different areas of life.

At the conclusion of the second third of summer in the northern hemisphere, some astral configurations, the Solar Eclipse standing out, send us in the direction of renewal, in the wave of cleanliness and purification. It is the time of preparation for what is to come, that which is already gestating.

The protagonical position acquired in these days by Mercury and Saturn, as the two planets that filter the cosmic energy, announces the convenience of evaluating the way and assuming higher levels of maturity and responsibility. The Sun, in Virgo, sets the pattern for assuming a more orderly, methodical and adjusted-to-the- facts behavior.

The challenging/changing sky of this week deserves to be assimilated, as an opportunity to channel individual and collective concerns, with a view to overcoming the obstacles of the present, and guiding future actions, from a renewed attitude of optimism and hope.
