Reno – A First Look

Seize the moment of excited curiosity on any subject to solve your doubts; for if you let it pass, the desire may never return, and you may remain in ignorance.

William Wirt (1772 – 1834)

As I make my way down 4th street I quickly realize that this city is filled with burnouts, lizard like people, dry and cracking, faded like old pictures or something that has been left out in the Nevada sun for too long. That sun… My shoulder is sweaty with the weight of my camera straps. 4th street is a very transient place, the Greyhound station dumps strange humans into the city every day, every day a new story begins or ends. I seem to be drawn to 4th street and its surrounding neighborhoods, it seems like everybody forgot about this part of town. All of the 40-50 year old funky motel signs are still intact although now the motels are solely occupied by the lizard people who’ve lived in their desert bungalows for what seems like decades. The city is well on its way to becoming gentrified, but before that happens I will use my cameras to capture all of the raw pastels & dust covered dreams that fill the air like stale casino smoke.

Hey you,
