Full-Moon Retrograde Alignment

A week rich in world events has culminated with the recent missile strike ordered by President Trump on an IS-fighting Syrian air base, and the uncertain consequences that might stem therefrom. Syria, Egypt, Sweden, Russia, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, among others, have been scenarios of highly conflictive events expressed in both the physical and the climatic order, as well as of political confrontations or violence and terrorism.

The earthly events we have observed in the past days have occurred in parallel with the usual process of lunar growth, and unusual planetary configurations. The advance of the Sun through Aries, on the border between the second and third decanats of that sign, has represented the most complex relationship among three sidereal bodies that have been in antagonistic positions for several months, reflecting these combative times.

Between April the 7th and the 14th, the solar energy comes successively into inharmonious tuning with Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus. The first one of them represents excesses and lack of control; the second one, the loss, death or rupture of a certain order; and the latter, the unbalancing condition of unpredictability and surprise. The Sun takes it upon itself to make these three forces converge.

The strike on Syria was ordered and executed on the same day when Saturn, the planet of control and limitation, began its five months retrograde motion period; the violent Mars formed an exact 120° angle with the annihilator Pluto, integrating both energies into one; and the Crescent Moon added fuel to the fire by placing itself, from Leo, in a position of extreme tension with both sidereal bodies.

The Christian Holy Week, heiress of the Jewish Passover celebration, is commemorated in the days of the first Full Moon of spring. In this opportunity, the celebration of Palm Sunday, as the opening of the Major Week, coincides with a series of astral events of special significance: the Sun, in strong conflict with Pluto; the Moon, in double opposition with Venus and Chiron, and the three of them in tension with Saturn; and Mercury, the mediator, communicator and dealer, begins his second retrograde motion period this year (until May 3).

Mercury’s retrograde motion affects everything related to the processes of exchange and understanding, adding to the difficulties in communications. The events of the week, whose maximum manifestation will be the lunar plenitude occurring between the night of Monday the 10th and the early morning of Tuesday the eleventh, will present themselves under this condition.  This first post-equinoctial Full-Moon will not be just another one, because of an atypical condition: it expresses itself as an alignment of five sidereal bodies; the Earth, in their midst.

Said alignment occurs when the Sun reaches the 22° of Ariesand the Moon, the opposite point in Libra. Next to the Sun is the disconcerting Uranus, and the Moon will be accompanied by Jupiter, at its point closest to the Earth, which receives, on the one side, the Son-Uranus current, and on the other, the Moon-Jupiter force; absorbing thereby such a mixture of astral energies, which it will have to metabolize and channel in the most varied ways, along with its inhabitants.

It will be on Good Friday, of passion and pain, when the exact fusion between the Sun and Uranus shall occur, putting an end to the conflicting triangulation with which the holy days have begun. Our planet will be subject, in a relatively short time span to a cataract of subtle actions and reactions of the cosmic energy, which represent a deep alteration of the social dynamics.

On Saturday of Glory, at the end of this hyperactive astral week, the planet Venus will culminate its six-week retrograde motion period. It will do so in conjunction with the planetoid Chiron, symbol of the wounded healer, expression of the healing character that all pain possesses, of the positive lesson that can be extracted from any situation involving physical or emotional suffering, and that always helps to strengthen the spirit.

There is seldom so salient an atonement between the cultural and religious traditions of peoples, and the symbols of planetary confluences, as the one occurring on this occasion. Libra’s Full Moon, at its best on Monday night, will not be able to contain the emotional impulses that this planetary alignment stimulates in the residents of the blue planet.
